Cobra 2011

Our 3-day drive across Slovenia finished in Piran, where we were received by the Mayor Mr. Bossman.

All the participants have arrived to Moravske Toplice as planned (2 cars are joining us in Celje) … Friday, day 1 … expect us at Ptuj castle (10-11:00), we will pass Maribor around noon, drive through Dravograd and Slovenj Gradec at leisurely pace, stop at Velenje castle (15-16:00), and end in Celje around 17:00 … DJ+Karaoke evening entertainment at Hotel Evropa’s medieval tower!

To make our International Cobra meeting in Slovenia even more special, we are preparing a specially made guitar in the shape of a Cobra. The guitar will be presented at the finish in Piran, where we will auction it off and donate the collected funds to a local charity. We will utilise the media coverage of our event for a good cause!

The guitar will be co-produced by Davorin Sever, world-renowned guitar maker from Slovenia, and Akrapovič Exhausts, top-quality exhausts manufacturer.

Although Mr. Sever is usually reluctant to name his customers, saying that every customer is equally important to him, we can tell you that some of the best guitar players in the world use his hand-crafted guitars. These include The Edge (Mark Davis of the U2, with his famous U2-shaped guitar), Steve Morse and Roger Glover of Deep Purple, Timi Nibbs Carter of Saxon, Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, GianLuca Grignani, Paul “Polo” Jones (Zucchero, Eric Clapton), Paul Day, Rossano Eleuteri, Nek and others.

Akrapovič Exhausts will produce the metal parts for the guitar in their high-tech titanium foundry, which we will visit as part of our Slovenia tour. Join us!

Last weekend we drove the entire route and recorded a gps track. It is a faboulous drive, 662 km over three days, starting in the Panonian plains, continuing over hilly vineyards, traversing the Alps and ending on the seaside. We marked hotels, recommended restaurants, important sights, parking lots and most importantly: gas stations! Join us!

We will provide the gps track to all participants.
